From the Commander

Greetings Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer winding down!

I apologize for the delay in sending this out. A little shoulder surgery has kept me at bay for a few days. All is well, and I'll be seeing everyone soon.

We are looking for a few Veterans to share some of their stories. If you are interested in speaking to some cub scouts and high school students, please email or phone and I will put you on the list of volunteers. I really appreciate any help you can provide. This is a special project for them and will be a huge success with your participation.

A lot is going on over the next few months. Keep your eyes peeled for details on all the other upcoming events.

Our post will once again be represented in McMaster's Golf Outing this September. This year, the post is sponsoring a hole in honor of our good friend Boomer! Good luck to those participating!

Respectfully,

Patrick Strausbaugh

Final Call to Submit Works for 2025 Ohio Veterans Art Exhibition

The deadline to submit art pieces for the 2025 Ohio Veterans Art Exhibition is fast approaching.

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services, through its ongoing partnership with the Ohio Arts Council, will display the exhibition in downtown Columbus this fall, but artists need to submit all works for consideration no later than 5 p.m. on Sept. 1. Those submissions can be done online at artcall.org.

Ohio’s active duty and veteran artists are invited to showcase their artistic talents for this wide-ranging and public event, which will be viewable in the first-floor lobby of the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts.

Exhibition dates: October 21 - December 6.

Ohio Veterans Art Exhibition 2025

While space is limited for this exhibition, we welcome all suitable mediums, including 3-dimensional pieces. We also welcome entries from veteran artists of varying backgrounds and levels of expertise. (Note: Keep in mind that your artwork does not necessarily need to depict aspects of military service.)

Our expert juror, Air Force resident and accomplished artist Daniel King of Lancaster, Ohio, will review all submissions and give them careful consideration.
